The Department of Music at the University of California, Davis invites applications for its Graduate Program in Musicology (https://arts.ucdavis.edu/gradu
Every incoming PhD student is offered a five-year fellowship and teaching assistantship package from the Department of Music, providing tuition, most fees, health insurance, and a minimum of $35k stipend/salary per year.
All PhD students follow the same core curriculum for the first year of study, followed by concentrated course work. Musicology students focus on stylistic and critical study in all historical periods, the acquisition of research skills, writing for publication, professional development, and application of critical theory. Students are encouraged to take part in performance groups sponsored by the department, including UCD Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, Empyrean Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Samba School, and Early Music, Mariachi, Afro-Cuban, Gamelan, Jazz, Hindustani Vocal, Bluegrass, and Capoeria Ensembles.
