The Division of Music in the Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic scholar-teacher with trans-disciplinary teaching and research interests in any area of musicology complementing those of the current faculty. Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses and special topic seminars for undergraduate majors and non-majors as well as graduate research methods and seminars. Tenure-track faculty teach an equivalent of 12 contact hours per week with course releases given for research and service. Other duties include supervision of master theses, pedagogy projects, undergraduate and graduate advising, and service to the University.
Minimum Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. by August 1, 2026; proven success in teaching undergraduate music courses; and evidence of scholarly potential.
Preferred Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. in hand at time of application; proven success in teaching undergraduate and graduate music courses; and evidence of scholarly productivity.
