New Muses Project (NMP) is pleased to announce a call for candidates to be considered for our Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to contribute during an exciting time for our organization as we develop a new three-year strategic Plan and Budget, with an emphasis on expanding our web platform and live programming to both reflect our mission and maintain financial sustainability.
About New Muses Project
New Muses Project is a classical music initiative that builds an innovative new way of approaching composers and their music. Driven by the need to redress biases against composers of historically marginalized identities, we propose curiosity as a critical orientation toward performance, education, and scholarship. Our flagship web recommendation system introduces our users to new composers based on those they already love, so that listeners become a driver for justice through the joy of discovery. Beyond expanding this platform, additional projects include organizing performances and events, conducting musicological research, and publishing transcriptions and recordings of never-heard-before music.
What we’re looking for:
While all members of the community with an interest in serving NMP are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in candidates who have background and experience in one or more of the following key areas:
What’s expected of NMP Board members?
NMP Board of Directors are expected to attend 2-4 online annual board meetings to discuss key governance issues. Once appointed, NMP Board members serve a two-year term.
Although not a working board, appointed members may also dedicate some of their willing time or resources working on organizational projects, based on their expertise and interest.
