DEADLINE EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 23, 2026
The biennial conference of the American Handel Society will take place March 18–21, 2027, in Princeton, New Jersey, hosted by the Princeton University Department of Music. Wendy Heller, who will serve as our host, is planning an exciting program of concerts and other events to supplement the paper sessions and Howard Serwer Memorial Lecture, including an event in collaboration with the brand-new Princeton University Art Museum.
The Society invites the submission of abstracts for papers on any topic connected with Handel’s life, his music, his close contemporaries, or the contexts in which his music was composed and/or performed. Given the collaboration with the new Princeton museum, the Program Committee would this year especially be interested in topics that consider the relationship of Handel’s life and music to the visual arts. The Committee also notes that 2027 marks the three hundredth anniversary of Handel’s naturalization as a British citizen, George II’s coronation, and the premieres of Riccardo Primo (intended as a coronation opera) and Admeto.
Abstracts of up to 500 words may be sent to Roger Freitas (rfreitas@esm.rochester.edu) by October 23, 2026.
