Assistant Professor of Music – Music and Technology Full Time Job

The Newcomb Department of Music in the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Music and Technology, beginning July 1, 2026.

We seek a dynamic scholar or scholar-artist with expertise in contemporary music production, recording techniques, digital sound technologies, and a critical understanding of the history and practice of music technology. The successful candidate will maintain an active research or creative portfolio that integrates innovative practice with scholarly output.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as digital production, sound recording, acoustics, sound design, and electronic/computer music, with a standard 2-2 teaching load. Additional duties include supervising student projects and internships, participating in service at the department and university levels, and collaborating on the continued development of the BFA in Music and Technology and the design of a potential MFA program.

Tulane’s Department of Music is a vibrant and growing community featuring faculty in performance, composition, technology, ethnomusicology, musical theatre, and Black American Music. Qualifications: PhD or DMA (by start date) in Music or related field, with demonstrated expertise in music and technology, higher education teaching experience, and an active creative/research agenda.
