The Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Music Theory, with an expected start date of July 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. We seek a scholar of music theory with a deep knowledge of the field and its histories. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose work spans global traditions and/or engages with earlier music. The successful candidate will demonstrate a rich understanding of diverse scholarly subfields in and out of music; a potential for publishing novel research that complements the strengths of the current faculty; the potential to contribute to the Department of Music’s long-standing integrated and interdisciplinary approach; the ability to shape curriculum and pedagogy creatively; and the ability to work effectively with both undergraduate and graduate students.
