22nd International Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music Call for Papers Meetings & Events

CALL FOR PAPERS: The Centre for the Study of Nineteenth-Century Music  at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce that the 22nd International Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music will take place in-person in Toronto, Canada between 24–27 June 2026. We look forward to showcasing new research on any aspect of music in the global “long” nineteenth century, from scholars at all career stages.

Prof. Emanuele Senici (Sapienza – Università di Roma) will deliver the keynote address.

Proposals are invited for:

• Individual Papers of 20 minutes (followed by 10 minutes’ discussion): submit a 250-word abstract

• Themed Sessions of three or four 20-minute papers (10 minutes’ discussion after each paper): submit a 250-word outline of the aims of the session and a 200-word description of each paper

• Roundtable sessions of 120 minutes with up to six presenters, each giving brief position papers, followed by a general discussion: submit a 300-word description outlining the aims of the session, including a brief description of each position paper

• Performances and Lecture Recitals of 40 minutes total: submit a 250-word description, including the proposed program, plus supporting materials (CV of performers, links to recordings, etc.)

Please submit proposals as attachments in .docx or .pdf formats only to <csncm.music@utoronto.ca>.

Contact details (including institutional affiliation if applicable) should be included in the body of the email but not in the proposal itself. For themed and roundtable sessions, the session organizer(s) should include the contact details of all speakers. Proposers will be notified as soon as possible, and not later than 31 January 2026. This is an in-person event.
