Support for Scholars
The Riemenschneider Bach Institute welcomes visiting scholars who wish to use the collections. Interested scholars should contact Paul Cary, Conservatory Librarian, to discuss their research needs.
MARTHA GOLDSWORTHY ARNOLD FELLOWSHIP
The Martha Goldsworthy Arnold visiting academic research fellowship is for full-time residential research in the collections of the Riemenschneider Bach Institute. Fellowships are for a period of one to four weeks with a stipend of up to $4,000, depending on the length of stay and travel expenses. Fellows will be encouraged to present their work to faculty and students and, depending on suitability, submit it for publication to BACH: Journal of the Riemenschneider Bach Institute. The Riemenschneider Bach Institute welcomes applications from scholars interested not only in its exceptional collection of Bach-related materials, but in any of its diverse holdings.
ELIGIBILITY
Scholars who hold the Ph.D., doctoral candidates engaged in dissertation research, and independent scholars are eligible. Applicants may be U.S. Citizens or foreign nationals.
DEADLINES
Although applications are accepted at any time on a rolling basis, we typically encourage applications on 1 October and 1 April for research undertaken within one year of each date. Decisions will be made within 4-6 weeks of application.
APPLICATIONS
Applications must include a 1000-2000 word research proposal, a one- to two-page curriculum vitae, a list of the materials at the Riemenschneider Bach Institute that will be used for research, and a proposed budget for travel and housing expenses. For students, one letter of reference should also be submitted directly by referee to bachinst@bw.edu. All application materials must be in English. Applications should be submitted as a PDF document to bachinst@bw.edu.
