Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Early Music within UCD School of Music.
The UCD School of Music seeks to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Early Music, taking this term to cover broadly music before c. 1600. We are open to all specialisms within this broad remit, including all historical periods and methodological and historiographical approaches (including interdisciplinary approaches). We also welcome applications from scholars who may have additional areas of expertise. The position will start either January or September 2026, depending on the preference of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will lead the School’s research and teaching in early music and will make a significant contribution to the broader development of the discipline of historical musicology at UCD. They will have an excellent track record of research, teaching, and service/leadership, commensurate with career stage, and clear research plans for the coming years; these should include key intended publications and may also include proposals for large-scale funding applications. Once in post, they will be supported to develop their research and teaching in ways that benefit their own scholarly trajectory.

Dublin is a vibrant and exceptionally well-connected city. As Ireland’s capital, it is part of both the UK-Ireland Common Travel Area and the European Union.
