Call for Submissions: Current Musicology, Issue 112 (Deadline: December 31, 2025) Call for Submissions Publications

Current Musicology, after a brief hiatus, is delighted to announce that it is accepting submissions for an upcoming general issue (Issue 112).

Current Musicology is a leading peer-reviewed journal for scholarly research in music. The journal was founded in 1965 by graduate students at Columbia University’s Department of Music. Current Musicology was the first journal in music to be edited and published by graduate students, which continues today after sixty years.

Current Musicology publishes scholarship from a wide range of perspectives and methodologies: historical musicology, music theory, sound and media studies, ethnomusicology, popular music studies, cultural studies, music education, and related fields. Interdisciplinary approaches are especially encouraged. The journal is proud to publish the work of senior and advanced scholars; it is also committed to supporting graduate students and scholars in the early phases of their careers. Current Musicology is an English-language publication.

To be considered for inclusion in Issue 112, submissions are due by December 31, 2025.

Current Musicology is currently accepting articles and book reviews of recent works. Articles may range in length from 5,000 to 8,000 words including footnotes. Book reviews should range from 2,000 to 3,500 words. If you wish to submit a manuscript that is significantly longer or shorter than the limits outlined above, please contact the Editors-in-Chief, Sasha Doster and Marco Donato Tomassi, at current-musicology@columbia.edu
